Wow!!! What a month it has been since returning from Houston. It didn't take long to realize that James' care was going to take everything I had. So rather than try to find a better job and then find someone to come in and care for James (and Johannah), I decided to quit my job to care for them and trust God to take care of the rest. I cannot tell you how thankful I am for Jon, Joe, and Josh who have grown up on the "back burner" to James' care and now are willing to step up and carry the load as I care for him. I love you guys!!!!!!
James was doing well on the treatment until last Wednesday. At that point, he seemed to be much more sleepy and confused. This continued through the rest of the week, culminating on Sunday with passing out in church. We rushed him to the hospital and they did a CT scan which didn't seem too concerning, but they really didn't have much to compare it to. His sodium was high and he seemed to be doing better, so they sent us home. James continued to do better and we kept him off the treatment until the sodium made its way back to normal range. But we decided to move his MRI to this week rather than the 24th.
MRI was today and it showed quite a bit of swelling around the tumor as well as a layer of blood that indicates that what James was dealing with last week was a bleed, either around or in the tumor. We will overnight his scan to Houston and wait for their thoughts on it and plan for moving forward safely.
James was again sleepy and a little confused this afternoon. Pray that this will resolve and that he will have the strength to continue battling this tumor and that everyone involved will have wisdom in his care. I don't think we've been this close to "fragile" since James was first diagnosed 12 years ago.
