Friends of Jaclyn

Soon after we moved to Charlotte, we were contacted by Dennis Murphy of "Friends of Jaclyn". www.friendsofjaclyn.org

"The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation is inspired by Jaclyn Murphy, an 11 year old, who was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, in March 2004. Jaclyn's strength and courage, relentless spirit, and joy for life are an inspiration to those who know her."

Jaclyn's father, Denis, works very hard to connect pediatric brain tumor patients with college sports teams, who will adopt them and make a difference in their lives. "It is our hope that through Jaclyn's example, we can help to improve the lives of other children and families dealing with pediatric cancer."

We just found out that James will be adopted by the North Carolina Men's Baseball Team.

James is very excited. In Chicago, James enjoyed going to the White Sox games, for whom he became an avid fan because of Dr. Goldman. We look forward to going to some of the games there in Chapel Hill, especially since James' cousin, Raechel, attends UNC in Chapel Hill.

Thank you, Denis, for doing this for the kids. You are making a difference.

"And of some have compassion, making a difference:" Jude 1:22

HI,
I am the mother of one of the Carolina baseball players who have adopted James. I am so proud of this particular program and that they will be doing things with James. Furthermore, I am also a proud mother of a son who has survived a brain tumor. Chase, who is on the baseball team, of course was the first to volunteer when he heard about what Coach Fox wanted to do. The road is bumpy, as you know, but you also know that "God is Good". That is and continues to be my favorite saying.
From a mother who has been there,
Judith Jones

Thanks, Judith. I did hear from Chase and was very encouraged by his story. I would love to keep in touch with you. Can you email me?

James is very, very excited to meet the team and see them play.

Very touching work. This is an awesome ministry. I am not anything special, but I have people that are special to me. I was an aspiring basketball player, but did not apply myself like I should at that age. This Carolina squad makes me proud to be a North Carolinian. I praise God for their stand. I plan on doing my share for pediatric cancer as well. They have an event called the Trek 100 up in Waterloo, WI. I wanted to raise enough money and get into shape well enough to do the Century Ride (100 miles) but will have to wait until next year. I would love to have such an event here. Perhaps an even greater event. From the OBX to the Blue Ridge... organizers welcome. ;) We have gorgeous mountains in the western portion of the state to ride in, and beautiful beaches in the eastern portion. I would even ride thru Chapel Thrill. ;) To conclude, I'll trade you prayers. Be blessed and keep up the good work. You have earned a new fellow bloggers follow.
